What to Expect

Before your appointment, please fill in the New Patient form via your booking confirmation email. Come in comfortable clothes that you can move in, and allocate an hour for your first session.

During your session your physio will talk through your history, and perform some objective tests (physical tests). Your physio will provide you with a clear picture of your diagnosis, your prognosis, and they will discuss best practice recommendations to help you get back to your goals. You will map out the treatment plan together, including how long treatment will take, and the different phases of the treatment plan.

Your Plan of Care is is written according to  your individual needs and goals. All our treatments are hands-on and evidence-based.

phases of physiotherapy

Phase 1:

  • Decrease pain and increase range of motion.

  • Treatment is manual therapy based, which may include mobilization, manipulation, soft/deep tissue massage, therapeutic exercises/functional movement, cupping, dry needling, and education.

Phase 2:

  • Increase range of motion & increase strength

  • Treatment is focused on teaching YOU how to move properly and correctly for YOUR body to smash your goals and prevent re-injury in the future, and also to prevent reliance on physiotherapy. We wean off the manual therapy and focus more on hands-on, exercise based, physiotherapy treatments.

Phase 3:

  • Education and creating habitual movement patterns to bulletproof your body to prevent the injury from returning and to prevent future injury.

  • Treatment is primarily hands-on and exercise-based, consisting of tailored, tissue-specific, therapeutic exercises. In addition to physiotherapy, a range of techniques are incorporated to help you reach your rehab goals, including Calisthenics, Pilates, Barre, and Functional Movement Therapy.

  • Please allocate up to one hour for these exercise-based treatment sessions. They are held in the gym, and up to three other people may be doing their physio exercises at the same time.

Graduation Day:

  • During you road to recovery, your physio will adapt and progress your program as necessary.

  • You will be sent home with a home exercise plan and booked in for a re-examination (functional assessment) in 3 months to ensure you are still on the best path towards your goals.

  • We recommend coming in for a regular check-up every 6-12 months as a preventative measure; to catch a potential injury before it happens - just like the dentist!

Maintenance:

  • Co-treatments are a valuable tool in the prevention and maintenance of injuries, assisting the healing process and reducing pain, stiffness and movement dysfunction.

  • Our highly qualified physiotherapists will adapt and progress your exercises during these hands-on, exercise-based sessions.

  • In addition to physiotherapy, a range of techniques are incorporated to help you reach your rehab goals, including Calisthenics, Pilates, Barre, and Functional Movement Therapy.

  • Sessions involve specialized gym and Pilates equipment to support and guide movement during exercises.

  • Benefits of Co-treatment physiotherapy include improved function, balance, muscle efficiency, motor control, movement, and more. Clinical Pilates has been found to be beneficial to many who struggle with chronic pain, especially of the back, hip, and knees.

  • Co-treatments act as a conservative management alternative to avoid surgeries such as ligament reconstruction and joint replacements. It is also beneficial pre and post operation.

FAQs

  • Co-treatments may be part of your prescribed treatment plan from your physiotherapist. As you advance through your program, exercise-based physiotherapy sessions most likely will be required to allow you to reach your rehab goals.

These physiotherapy sessions can be up to 4 people completing their individualized exercise program and are 45 minutes long.

  • Our co-treatment physio sessions have a maximum of 4 clients per session. This allows for your physiotherapist to effectively monitor your progression and technique whilst performing exercises which reduces the risk of developing injury.
